The short version: the tools on this site do their work inside your browser. What you type into a form filler or an intake is not sent to us.
The form fillers and the LMIA client intake run entirely in the page. Your answers are held in your browser and are not transmitted to our server.
So that you can leave and come back, work in progress is saved in your browser's local storage. Every tool has a control that clears it, and clearing your browser's site data removes it too. Local storage stays on the device that created it: it does not reach us, and it does not follow you to another computer.
Public files, identical for every visitor, with nothing about you attached to the request:
Matching happens on your device. What you type into the search box is not sent anywhere.
What you choose to send: an email to info@ahilife.ca, or a request for an access code. We use it to answer you, and for nothing else.
Besides that, and only if you allow it, the anonymous usage counts described below. If you pick an
appearance (light, dark or automatic) with the round button, it is kept in one small cookie,
ahi_appearance, shared by the ahilife.ca sites for a year; it holds that one word, and your
browser sends it with each request to them. Signing in to an AHI account, or redeeming a guest or access code, sets the cookies that
access needs (named on the Signals privacy page). A visitor who does neither gets no cookie from us.
On the pages that count visits (the map, the news, the board, the ledger, the register and the PDU page), we ask once whether we may count visits (that one answer covers every page of this site), and each of those pages keeps a Privacy choices control so you can change it: which pages and options are used, as totals. Nothing is counted until you choose Allow; your answers and what you type into a search are never included. The counts set no cookie and we record no identifier with them (your browser still sends any cookies it already holds for this site, as browsers do, and we do not attach them to the counts); your choice is kept in this browser only. We do keep one anonymous tally of the choice itself (how many people chose Allow and how many chose Decline), with nothing else attached. If your browser sends Do Not Track, nothing is counted, not even that. The form fillers count nothing.
These tools are operated by Align Horizons Inc., Alberta, Canada, and we answer to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent for anything you have given us. Write to info@ahilife.ca and a person will answer.
Status. This page describes what the public tools do today, and you can hold us to it. A fuller privacy policy covering accounts, subscriptions and the community features is with counsel; when it is settled it will be published here in place of this page.
